Ashby Ashby on the Kiln Au Henriette The Chicks Cumby

Legend tells us of a story of the Emperor of Siam who was given two gorgeous vases made by a local potter. So beautiful were they, and quite worried that they would be stolen, the Emperor demanded of his two cats to sit guard and protect them. These cats, having love for the Emperor and understanding his love for these vases, intently stared at these pots for so long, that their eyes became crossed. They, determined to prevent the theft of these vases, curled their tails around the neck of the pots and never moved. To this day, that is why the eyes of the Siamese cat are crossed and his tail curled.

Ashby, our Siamese (8/25/90 - 9/6/08), came to us in a trade of one of Rick’s bean pots and a pair of earrings and a pin, jewelry made by Gariné. Our beloved Ashby passed away on September 6, 2008. He had just turned 18 years old. He will always be missed and never forgotten.

Cumberland, aka “Cumby”, our Burmese (2/27/93 - 4/13/11), simply jumped onto Rick’s shoulder and came home with us. Our handsome Cumby passed away on April 13, 2011. He had just turned 18 years old in February. The house is empty without him, we really miss him.

Au, our golden cat, gave Gariné a kiss the first time he saw her and it was love at first sight. He moved in January 2007.

March 2009 we adopted the queens Henriette, Claudette, Lynette (d.10/25/15) and Miette (6/6/08 - 11/29/14). In 2010 we also adopted the princesses who were born on Sept. 8: Jezebelle, Juliette, Estelle (d.9/8/11), Bibi (d.10/12/12), Mae West (aka Fatty) (d.6/11/13) and Paulette (d.6/20/14).

On November 7, 2010 Brooks tried to cross the road in front of Gariné’s Jeep, almost getting hit by other cars in the road. She picked him up in the middle of the road and of course, he came home with her. He was extremely thin and full of fleas and ticks but, you should see him now, he turned 3 years old on May 1st, 2013, and he’s become a big and fluffy boy.

On January 3, 2011 Gariné also found Corkey at an abandoned farmstand and she came home with her too. Even though she turned 3 on September 15, 2013, she’s still tiny but full of energy. She’s broken more things in the house than all of our cats ever did but she’s cute, and Brooks seems to have found his long lost friend.
